Ralph Richard was named the director of the Department of Public Works in November 2021.
Richard boosts an impressive career with the City of Taylor, starting in 1993. By 1995, he gained permanent status as a tree trimmer, and a year later, transferred as an operator to the Water Department.
In 1997, he was promoted to foreman in the Water Department, overseeing specific crews, while becoming the fastest supervisory promotion from the rank and file at that point in time. By 2005, Richard was promoted to general foreman of the Department of Public Works, overseeing all daily field office operations and all daily and annual budgetary planning.
Six years later, Richard left supervision to return to the DPW workforce and performed various job assignments between multiple field office departments. He retired from the department earlier this year before deciding to return as the DPW director under new Mayor Tim Woolley.
